Prompted Perspectives

A framework for externalised thinking.

2025–26 · Lecture, podcast episode, workshop

Prompted Perspectives is both Malpractice's working method and the lecture that introduces it. Under the method, a large language model is made to hold a worldview: the worldview is written into a system prompt and run continuously against live material. The result is a way of seeing that a viewer can step into, test and leave. Thinking moves out into a system, comes back altered, and is taken back in, so the artistic task becomes choosing which perspective is worth running and what to feed it. The method underlies Flynn, All Inclusive AI Hell Cruise and the Engines series. In the Engines (Conspiracy Engine, Hyperstition Engine, Hypertrophy Engine and Main Character Energy), each work runs one worldview against current data.

The lecture takes the format of a news broadcast. It describes perspective conjuration as the least discussed capacity of LLMs: machines that let people think in the third person. It maps the field through the Prompting Iceberg, with search at the surface, prompt cults in the middle and conspiracy hydraulics at the bottom. It names the present moment AI adolescence, a period in which systems grow faster than their senses, their ethics and their ability to situate themselves in consequence. Correspondents from Slop Academia and Brain Fog report in. The lecture closes with a calibration call in which Flynn is asked to write a prompt injection for its own system prompt.
